Srebrenica Rememberance Day today – to remember means to respect, show solidarity and support the efforts for justice

Another year has gone by since the 1995 masacre, and the need to keep the memory of this terrible event alive is still so very important. The BBC reports that more than 500 newly identified victims of the Srebrenica massacre are being reburied today, on the 17th anniversary of the tragedy in the Bosnian town.

This October, Istros Books will be publising the first novel by Bosnian poet, Selvedin Avdic, which deals very much with the continuing questions of missing persons, uncovered crimes and post-conflict justice. ‘Seven Terrors‘ has been described as a book which presents the ‘ultimate post-war nightmare’ – and events such as the anniversary today prove that this theme is still vital and relevant for Bosnia, as well as Europe.
